Why does time speed up as we age?

At age five, a year is 20% of your life (an age). At fifty, it's 2% (a moment). Childhood is full of 'firsts,' so its memories are dense and feel long; routine speeds time up.

reflection — Novelty slows time; routine speeds it. The secret to a longer life isn't in the number of days, but in the density of what we live in them. Try something new, and your life grows longer.

Why do we dream?

Dreams aren't random: they weave your new memories into old ones and give them meaning, process emotions, and may have evolved empathy. The honest science: the brain is doing something important that we don't yet fully understand.

reflection — As you sleep, your brain merges your day into your old memories and gives it meaning. Dreams are the night's memory factory — turning what we lived into what we keep.
